1. ADMISSION THROUGH NUMS ENTRY TEST (NUMS CADETS OR NC)
NUMS conducts entry test in all major cities of Pakistan. However, the result is sent to the candidate either through email or through national press. The test is conducted twice a year by the National Testing Service (NTS). The first examination is conducted in August based on the candidate’s first year results.
The second test is held in September based on the results of the second year. Further, a candidate can appear for both the tests. Also, they can choose the result with the best score from the tests to apply.
Whether the candidate is male or female, they can apply through NUMS. These tests do not include an intelligence test. They don’t even have to take any more army tests.

1. REGISTER FOR NUMS TEST
NUMS registration is an online process. Following are the guidelines for successful registration:
- Visit the National Testing Service website at nts.org.pk.
- Click on “Registration” for NUMS Entry Test.
- Fill the NUMS form carefully and select an exam center from the following options: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta, Multan, Peshawar, Bhawalpur, Karachi, Dera Ismail Khan, and Gwadar.
Click on the registration button. - A challan of PKR 3,000 will be generated in your name, download and print it along with your application form.
- Pay the challan at the nearest HBL Bank. Get original challan for yourself and stamp NUMS.
- Post the printed application form and original paid challan form (NUMS copy) to “National Testing Service (NUMS Project) Plot 96, Street No. 4, Sector H-8/1, Islamabad”.
Candidate should read the following instructions before registration:
- Apply for the test as soon as possible so that you can post the challan, application form, and required documents to NTS on time.
- NTS will not accept responsibility for late receipt of application.
- Once your application is accepted, you will receive a roll number slip from NTS or NUMS with the assigned exam venue, date and time via email or SMS.
TAKE THE TEST
On the day of the examination, the candidate should reach the examination venue one hour before the commencement of the test to avoid any possibility of delay.
Candidate must bring the following items on the day of examination.
- Original Identity Card or National Identity Smart Card or Official NADRA Token Slip or NADRA and Govt stamped “B” form with photograph of the candidate.
- Printed copy of admit card or roll number slip.
- Clear the clipboard.
- Two ballpoint pens. Markers, pencils and pointers are not allowed.
3. THE RESULT
On the next working day, NUMS uploads the test answers on its website (www.numspk.edu.pk) for self-evaluation.
The test result will be displayed on their website or via email within a week. Keep in mind that the weightage formula for admission is 50% of F. Sc. and 50% of the NUMS test. A candidate with 70% marks in NUMS entry test is eligible to apply for admission.
4. THE ADMISSION FORM
Candidate has to purchase their prospectus and obtain admission form from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi (Fee: Rs. 3000/-).
Fill the form carefully. Attach the attested copies of the following documents.
- Two pictures.
- Copy of matriculation results
- Copy of FSC or HSSC or A level result
- Copy of CNIC or “B” form

5. MERIT LIST

2. AMC ADMISSION THROUGH MEDICAL CADET COURSE
Selection procedure for Medical Cadet Course is almost same as PMA. Compared to PMA, preliminary tests are divided into four phases. In summary, the stages are three tests and an interview.
- Intelligence and written test
- Physical test
- Preliminary medical test
Once the candidate clears the written test, he/she will proceed for the physical test. After completing the physical examination, they soon proceed to the medical tests. Shortlisted candidates will receive call letter for interview under GHQ Selection Commission. Selection procedure and criteria for BDS are some different forms of MBBS.
If the Army successfully selects the candidate, the GHQ will issue a call letter for the candidate. It will be delivered to the address of the candidate mentioned in the application form.
During 5 years of MBBS and 4 years of BDS, GHQ will pay 30000 PKR per month. Additionally, the candidate will have to wear the official khaki uniform, and will also be called a cadet.

Each cadet will complete six months of training at Kakul Academy PMA after completion of MBBS and BDS. When a candidate completes the training course, he will be given the rank of “Captain”. According to the Army Bond, every candidate has to serve at least 13 years in the Army Medical Crops.
Women are no longer allowed to apply as medical cadets. In 2012, the Army stopped the admission of girls as lady cadets for MBBS and BDS through the Medical Cadet Course.
Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria for MC:
- Candidate should have 60% score in FSC. (Pre-Medical) or HSSC.
- A candidate is allowed to try out for the army only three times.
- No candidate will be given second chance if permanently disqualified for Army Medical Examination.
1. REGISTRATION
Firstly, male applicants for medical cadets should visit Pakistan Army Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs) in their cities. They can also visit their website https://www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk/ Note: Application for Medical Cadets usually opens from June to July. Candidates can submit the form through their website. Moreover, the roll number candidates slip for preliminary test is also easily available.
Any delay or change in the test schedule is also updated on their website. Moreover, there are four phases of preliminary test which are three tests and one interview.
2. TAKE THE INITIAL TEST
The preliminary examination is a written examination. It also has a section for personality and intelligence tests. Moreover, the test is computerized, and the test venue is AS&RCs. The test is conducted from the following subjects:

- Physics
- English.

3. TAKE THE PHYSICAL TEST:
Army conducts physical test to check candidate’s fitness. It also shows sportsmanship. Since medical cadets also have to undergo proper army training after graduation, they actually select physically fit candidates. The physical test consists of the following activities:

- Chin-ups
- Ditch Crossing
- Measuring chest

3. TAKE THE MEDICAL EXAMINATION
In this test, the health of the candidates is tested. They are just a simple blood test, X-rays, scans, and a few other tests for diseases like hepatitis. If the candidate clears the test, they are given a date for their Army interview.
4. APPEAR FOR THE INTERVIEW
Candidate must appear for interview under GHQ Selection Board. Note: There is no ISSB for Medical Cadets. The interview is very general. It is like an interview to understand the personality and mindset of the candidate.
5. THE MERIT LIST
Once the candidate clears all the tests, they are scored according to their overall performance in all the tests. After merit list successful candidates get admission in Army Medical College Rawalpindi. They may also be referred to other Army Medical Colleges like CHM.
6. SIGNING THE BOND DURING ADMISSION
Every medical cadet has to sign a service bond with the army. Also, the bond specifies 13 years of service in the army after completion of MBBS or BDS.
3. AMC ADMISSION THROUGH PAYING CADET OR PC
Paying cadet seats are reserved for Army cadets only. Civilians are not allowed to apply as paying cadets. Although, these seats are available for both boys and girls. Paying cadets will pay their full fees, but half the charges will be refunded.
Moreover, it does not matter what rank the candidate’s parents are. Any candidate with army background. Army background can be as follows.

- All cadets can apply for quota payment, even re-attempts and martyred cadets. Additionally, paid cadets are selected through the NUMS entry test, as are NUMS cadets. However, salaried cadets have less merit.
On selection, paying cadets will also wear official khaki uniform during 5 years of MBBS or 4 years of BDS. Then finally, they serve as captain doctors as well under army bond of 3 years service.

1. GET A PAYING CADET FORM
Candidate should apply for PC seats first before NUMS test. Pay Cadet or PC forms are available at the following headquarters as per Army Division.
- Those serving in the army have to submit the form from GHQ.
- The Air Force must collect the form from AHQ.
- Candidates with parents serving in the Navy have to submit the form from NHQ.
Fill the form carefully. The following attested copies of documents should be attached with the file:

2. SUBMIT THE PC FORM
Candidate can submit the form to GHQ/AHQ/NHQ. Also, the candidate’s parents can ask the office clerk about the unit’s OAS system for submitting the form.
3. REGISTER FOR NUMS TEST
Visit the National Testing Service website nts.org.pk and follow the same instructions given in the admission process for NUMS Cadets applicants.
4. TAKE THE TEST
